Ballistic missile defense

The U.S. Navy is laying the groundwork for its first naval facility in Poland. In October 2016, the U.S. Naval Support Facility Redzikowo will be established in Redzikowo in northern Poland to support the Aegis Ashore ballistic-missile defense (BMD) site that will be assembled there. The Aegis Spy-1 radar and Standard missile launchers will be manned by a contingent of U.S. Navy Sailors to provide one of the two land-based sites in support of the European Phased Adaptive Approach network of BMD sites and ships in the European region.
