EUROPE'S WAKE UP CALL: Mass migration and fury at Brussels caused Brexit, admits Schaeuble
BREXIT was the moment Europe woke-up to the rising tide of anger over its immigration polices, Germany's finance minster has admitted.
There is a growing backlash against the euro and the union across member states, Wolfgang Schaeuble told an audience at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
And the UK's vote to leave the European Union (EU) is the event that helped Brussels bureaucrats take notice of the voices of dissent.
Now the solution is to make the bloc's economy more competitive, according to Angela Merkel's finance head.
The weaker states should make the necessary changes to help their economies become stronger, said Mr Schaeuble.
