Pentagon Official: Nuclear Review Assumes Risk of Confrontation With Russia
The Missile Defense Review being conducted by the Trump administration will also study responses to cruise missile and hypersonic threats as well as ballistic missile attacks, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy David Trachtenberg said on Monday.
"The Missile Defense Review is still under way [and it] will address hypersonic threats," Trachtenberg told a meeting at the Heritage Foundation. "Our missile defense review is still under way. It has not been finalized yet."
Trachtenberg explained that the Missile Defense Review was designed to be wide in scope in order to assess other developing and emerging military technologies.
