The military innovative technopolis Era will conduct research along six new promising guidelines, including the development of weapons operating on new physical principles, a source at the office of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told TASS ahead of his visit to the technopolis.
Borisov will inspect Era’s facilities and hold a conference devoted to interaction between Russia’s institutions of higher learning and defense industries with the Defense Ministry in conducting research and development on the technopolis’s basis, the source said.
"There are plans for adding another six promising areas of research: small space apparatuses, weapons on new physical principles, geographic information platforms having military uses, hydro-meteorological (meteorological) and geophysical support, and artificial intelligence technologies for developing weapons, military and special technologies," the source said.
Currently the technopolis, which has functioned since autumn 2018, is working along eight research guidelines - robots, supercomputers, information security, nanotechnologies and nanomaterials.
The technopolis Era unites several dozen defense industrial companies. The president of the national research center Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, runs the R&D projects
