Juggernaut of US enforcement agencies

The average cost of enforcement actions carried out on the back of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) increased significantly last year.
According to research undertaken by law firm Gibson Dunn, the typical value of a monetary resolution in this area reached $156.6 million (£102.8 million) in 2014. This is close to double the $80 million that was recorded in 2013 and well above the $21.7 million figure from 2012.
Gibson Dunn revealed that since 2004, the average value of FCPA enforcement action has only fallen below $20 million twice. Meanwhile, some 14 cases have now exceeded the $100 million mark.
"Within the last decade, FCPA enforcement has become a juggernaut of US enforcement agencies," the law firm stated.
