Skin cancer
affects 1 in 5 Americans, and more than 3.5 million cases of nonmelanoma
skin cancer will be diagnosed this year, according to the American Academy
of Dermatology. "When skin cancers are caught early, they are often
curable,” says Dr. Desiree Ratner, director of the Comprehensive Skin
Cancer Program at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.
