Decriminalization
Handcuffs For LovePresident Barack Obama says the U.S. must continue cutting its crime and incarceration rates by reforming its criminal justice system. Obama met at the White House on Tuesday with lawmakers from both parties who are working on criminal justice issues. Among the 16 lawmakers were Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker.
The White House says Obama and the lawmakers discussed ways they could collaborate to pass a "meaningful criminal justice reform" bill this Congress. Obama is calling for a comprehensive package that incorporates some ideas that lawmakers have already proposed.
