Drug trafficking
A customs officer found the drugs inside dried fish carried by a passenger arriving from Amsterdam, according to court papers. There was something fishy about this traveler at Kennedy Airport.
A Customs and Border Patrol officer selected 63-year-old Rose Amanor for inspection on Sunday after she arrived on a Delta Airlines flight from Amsterdam that had originated in Ghana.
Amanor claimed she came to New York City to visit her son, but the officer with a nose for contraband, sniffed out several packages of dried fish she was carrying in a plastic bag, authorities said.
Probing the fish with a knife, the officer found brown powder that tested positive for heroin, according to a complaint unsealed Wednesday in Brooklyn Federal Court.
