Intelligence
reorganization/ Peru
Peru’s
National Directorate of Intelligence (DINI) will be temporarily closed for a
period of 180 days. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Ana Jara
following a meeting between President Ollanta Humala and 15 opposition party
leaders, reports MISNA.
There were however notable absences at the meeting, including former
president Alan García with his centre-left Aprista Party, and Keiko Fujimori,
daughter of the former dictator Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000) with the Popular
Force Peru party, main opposition parties of the nation. Fujimori is leading
exit polls for the 2016 presidential election with 28.8%.
After the talks, Jara indicated that during the “break” the intelligence
services of the Interior ministry and armed forces will continue carrying out
their duties.
