The Public Pulse: Pipeline is a national security issue

Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke emphasized the importance of America’s energy security during a recent White House press briefing. “From a SEAL perspective, it is better that we are not held hostage on our energy needs. Like you I don’t want my kids, sons and daughters, to have to fight for war over energy resources we have here.”

I agree that America should not be held hostage to the instability of the Middle East for our oil when we can get it safely and securely right here in North America. The Keystone XL pipeline would become a critical piece to our energy infrastructure that supports our national security.

America’s energy security is dependent upon renewable forms of energy, nuclear energy and, of course, fossil fuels. TransCanada will efficiently and safely transport oil, adding to America’s energy picture.
