Terror threat

State law enforcement warn of potential attacks

As the one-year anniversary approaches of last Summer’s deadly attack at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, Florida Governor Rick Scott says it’s important people remain vigilant in an effort to fend off future attacks.
The governor was in Orlando Thursday where he signed a bill that gives the state power to charge individuals suspected of being involved in planning attacks.
At the same time, local, state, and federal law enforcement officers are gathering this week in Orlando as part of a conference to look further into ways to predict and prevent future terrorist attacks.
The reality of such an attack is not lost on those in Orlando. In June 2016, 49 people were killed when a gunman walked into Pulse nightclub and started shooting. Pulse was a popular club among Orlando’s gay and lesbian community.
