DHS Laying Groundwork for Expanded Laptop Ban

Placards inform passengers at the entrance to the Casablanca to New York flight checkpoint at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport in Morocco in March.
A high-level delegation from the Department of Homeland Security will brief European allies in Brussels on Wednesday on an anticipated expansion of a U.S. ban on large electronic devices from aircraft cabins.
Federal authorities are expected to add countries in Europe and other regions to the list of nations where passengers flying to the U.S. will be barred from bringing any electronic device larger than a cellphone – including laptops, tablets and e-readers – as part of their carry-on luggage.
The meeting comes barely two days after President Donald Trump came under intense fire late Monday for reportedly revealing highly classified information related to the so-called "laptop ban" during a meeting with Russian representatives in the Oval Office last week, including allegedly revealing methods that could give away crucial U.S. intelligence sources.
