Ukrainian crisis
A year after
the collapse of Viktor Yanukovych’s government, hope that the new Ukrainian
government can check the power of corrupt oligarchs and install a new
generation of reform-minded elites is shaky at best. Ukraine’s old elites and
their ways of doing business are prevailing over those who seek to build a
transparent political system and a modern state built on the rule of law.
