Blow: Stop throwing money at border security
Though border security is
rightfully the duty of the federal government and U.S. Border Patrol staffing
has doubled over the last 10 years, Texas can’t resist getting in on the act.
State spending at the border is nearing $1 billion since 2008.
There was one glimmer of reasonableness in
Austin last week. Senate budget writers grappled with the notion that maybe
“border security” should be better defined if we’re going spend a fortune
trying to achieve it.
