The top two lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary
Committee are pressing the Justice Department with concerns the Central
Intelligence Agency helped domestic law enforcement develop technology to
scan U.S. cellphones.
The letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, dated
March 18 and made public Monday, cites a report in The Wall Street Journal
earlier in March that said the U.S. Marshals Service, with the CIA,
field-tested versions of the technology in the U.S. from 2004 to 2008.
