Ryan calls for denying classified briefings to Clinton, Comey to testify before House committee

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan on Wednesday said he believes Hillary Clinton received preferential treatment from the FBI in its investigation of her email practices at the State Department and offered a series of next steps Republicans will take to push the case themselves.

Ryan, who was his party’s 2012 vice presidential nominee, said the director of national intelligence, James Clapper, should deny Clinton the standard top-level briefings given to candidates once they claim the presidential or vice presidential nomination because she was “so reckless” with the use of a private email server while serving as secretary of State. Ryan (R-Wis.) said he was examining ways that Congress could block those briefings for Clinton once she officially becomes the Democratic nominee later this month.

MI5 and MI6 to take part in inquiry into a paedophile ring at Kincora, Court of Appeal told

MI5 and MI6 have agreed to be central participants at an inquiry into a paedophile ring at a notorious Belfast care home, the Court of Appeal heard today.

Counsel for the probe into the Kincora scandal also insisted it has been given unrestricted access to information and documents from government departments and agencies.

The disclosure came during continuing legal action by one victim over claims of state collision and the cover-up of sexual abuse throughout the 1970s in order to protect an intelligence-gathering operation.

Gary Hoy (54) is seeking to overturn a ruling that the examination should remain within the current remit of the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry (HIA) sitting in Banbridge.
