SECNAV Mabus Defends Head of Naval Intelligence Ted Branch in Senate Hearing

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus defended the naval intelligence community and its director, Vice Adm. Ted Branch, after a senator criticized the Navy for continuing to have a chief of naval intelligence without clearance to view classified information.
After Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) expressed her displeasure of the ongoing situation during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Mabus explained that when Branch’s name came up in 2013 in connection to the Glenn Defense Marine Asia bribery case, he chose to pull Branch’s clearance out of an abundance of caution with the understanding that Branch would either be cleared or charged within the coming weeks.

The U.S. Navy Just Uncovered Something Massive Putin Is Doing That Could Be ‘Devastating’

One of the oft-repeated truisms that many pass around about Russia today is that it is once again on the verge of collapse. But if what the U.S. Nay is reporting about the Russian navy is correct, that “collapse” may not be as imminent as so many want to believe.
Just as an example of some of the “collapse” stories about Russia, in April Business Insider reported that the Russian banking sector is “about to implode.” Then in August, CNBC insisted that the Russian economy is on the verge of collapse. That was preceded by a report in The Week blaring that the Russian navy is collapsing.
It’s the latter report that the U.S. Navy is seeking to discourage policy makers from believing. After decades of neglect, Putin is now set to pour billions of rubles into revitalizing the great bear’s maritime military.
