British special forces hunt for IS chemical weapons stock in Syria: report
Great Britain deployed its SAS special forces Saturday night, to find and destroy a Syrian chemical weapons factory over fears that the Islamic State group would use it to potentially kill thousands of people, the British Sunday Express reported Sunday.
The marching order was given after intelligence reports revealed that IS was planning a chemical attack on Kurds in the east of the country, according to the Sunday Express.
According to the report, a US chemical warfare team accompanied by 60 SAS soldiers crossed into Syria from Iraq to find the chlorine warehouse, said to be situated in a heavily fortified IS stronghold some 80 kilometers from the Iraqi border.
