Terror threat

ISIS Predicts Attack on Washington, but U.S. Officials See No Evidence

A screenshot from video footage released by the Islamic State, showed a man identified in subtitles as Al Karar the Iraqi, center, threatening a Paris-style attack on Washington.
The Islamic State terrorist group predicted an attack on Washington in a video released Monday in the wake of the deadly assault on Paris, but American counterterrorism officials said they had no intelligence pointing to the existence of a plot.
Terrorist groups have used such threats against American cities in the past as propaganda to drum up fear. The Islamic State in particular has used videos spread by social media to incite violence and stoke anxieties.
Counterterrorism officials say that the biggest threat inside the United States from the group, which is also known as ISIS, comes not from a 9/11-style attack launched from Syria but from Americans who are inspired by videos and decide to carry out attacks on their own.
