HALTING THE HORROR OF WEAPONS THAT MASSACRE CIVILIANS
Cluster bombs, chemical weapons and other banned weapons are now commonplace.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Mine Ban Treaty, the common name for the convention that prohibits the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of anti-personnel land mines.
Since the treaty was concluded it has garnered the support of 162 state parties and some 47 million anti-personnel land mines have been removed from arsenals and destroyed.
