Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity a focus of Homeland Security

2017 Cybersecurity Symposium With each passing day, more and more lives are intimately integrated with digital technologies. In order to meet the security needs of an ever-changing reality, various public and private entities are working together to make sure the United States doesn't fall behind the rest of the world.
To address the latest trends in cybersecurity, the Wyoming Business Report organized the 2017 Wyoming Cybersecurity Symposium on Thursday at the Radisson Hotel in Cheyenne. Speakers and panelists included representatives from a variety of interests, including local businesses, federal agencies and the University of Wyoming.
Governments, businesses and individuals across the nation that rely on digital technology are at risk of cyberattacks, said Mike Borowczak, professor of practice of computer science at UW. And whether it's hackers crippling Wyoming's energy infrastructure or obtaining an individual's financial information, he said the consumer is the one who ends up with the short end of the stick.
