Hero army dogs who faced being put down saved after 370,000 sign petition
Two retired army dogs who faced being put down because they were too aggressive to be rehomed have been saved at the last minute.
Belgian shepherds Kevin and Dazz helped save thousands of lives by working with troops to locate explosives in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
The “hero” dogs, who retired from frontline service in 2013, were due to face lethal injections next week, as well as a police dog called Driver.
But Foreign Office minister Sir Alan Duncan wrote to the Ministry of Defence calling for a reprieve, while former soldiers and handlers also joined the campaign.
