Defense
/ No dependence on supplies from Ukraine
Russia’s defence sector no longer
depends on Ukrainian-made components, Russian Deputy Defence Minister Yuri
Borisov said on Saturday.
“The Ukrainian problem is closed. We
have no doubts that our plans will not be wrecked because of problems with supplies.
We have found a way to secure ourselves. We have no dependence on supplies from
Ukraine,” he told the RSN radio station.
Drop tests of the heavy ballistic
missile Sarmat are planned for 2015, Yuri Borisov said.
“This year, we plan the so-called drop
tests. I think we will the through with design and development work as
scheduled,” he told the Ekho Moskvy radio station.
He said the Sarmat missile surpassed
missiles of the previous generation. “Its destructive payload is up to ten
tonnes,” he said.
