1 dead, 3 injured in German knife attack
One person died and at least three others were wounded Tuesday in a knife attack at a train station near the southern German city of Munich, police said.
The unidentified assailant, a man, a 27-year-old German national, was arrested after being overpowered by police. Police spokesman Karl-Heinz Segerer said the attacker "expressed political motivations" during the attack but didn't elaborate.
A 50-year-old man died from his injuries. The other victims were men aged 43, 55 and 58. Their names weren’t released.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. local time in Grafing, a Bavarian town east of Munich. Early reports indicate the man was not known to police.
Bayrischer Rundfunk, a regional broadcaster, said police were investigating eyewitness statements that the attacker may have yelled "Allahu Akbar" ("God is great") while carrying out the stabbings, although that has not been confirmed.
