Cybersecurity

UK's new cyber warfare fortress opens in London - but what will it be doing?

The Queen has cut the ribbon on the UK’s new cyber-warfare HQ – and its first big mission will be to stop Russia hacking our next general election.

Experts at the National Cyber Security Centre in Central London will offer politicians seminars after Hillary Clinton and the Democrats were targeted in the US last year.

Speaking at today’s launch alongside Chancellor Philip Hammond , Cyber-security chief Ciaran Martin said protecting the integrity of electoral systems is “up there with the top priorities”.

The centre will spearhead a £2billion effort to fend off such attacks, as well as tackling gangs stealing our cash online.
