Doha to host Interpol meet on human trafficking
Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the fifth edition of the Interpol Global Conference against Trafficking in Human Beings and Smuggling of Migrants will be held in Doha, on December 6.
The conference will be preceded by an expert group meeting and a training session on December 4-5, to review policies and procedures adopted by countries to combat
human trafficking.
The conference, organised by the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), in co-operation with the Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and the National Committee against Trafficking in Human Beings, aims to develop skills to develop a precise and sophisticated definition of the concepts of human trafficking and how to identify victims, the means and tools used by trafficking gangs, to co-ordinate the local and international efforts, exchange information in combating the phenomenon, as well as to train individuals and institutions concerned on how to provide legal, humanitarian and economic assistance, and to co-ordinate and develop awareness campaigns in
combating this phenomenon.
