Now Hiring: CIA Looking For Korean-Speaking Agents
Though the initial listing didn't explain why recruits would be needed, a little digging around on the agency's website suggests they're looking for either a "Directorate of Operations Language Officer" or just a language instructor.
According to the site, the language officer would offer "high-quality, accurate and timely translations, interpretations and other language-related support to DO clandestine operations."
It later adds, "LOs are key to the success of many foreign intelligence, counterintelligence, cyber, and covert action operations."
Applicants need to have native or near-fluency in Korean. In case that's not your jam, the agency is also looking for the same standings in other languages such as Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, Dari/Pashto, Persian/Farsi and Russian.
If hired, the newly enlisted agent has the chance to either work in Washington, DC, or be sent overseas.
The job listing was posted just two days before North Korea fired off its first missile test since September 15. Following the launch Pyongyang announced that the upgraded version of the Hwasong-15 had the ability to hit the United States mainland.
