“FORENSICS CAN END MINE PRODUCTION SUSPICIONS”
Mopani Copper Mines has urged government to invest in Forensic science to end suspicions surrounding mineral production figures, profitability and exports in the mining sector.
Mopani Copper Mines Chief Executive Officer Chris Vermeulen says with disputed production figures and export quantities between government and mines, there is urgent need for government to invest in initiatives to clear the suspicions.
Mr. Vermeulen says Zambia should create a sound forensic base to monitor production and export of minerals to create mutual confidence and trust between government and the mines.
He was speaking in Ndola during the Launch of a book by Professor Gibson Mwewa titled “Principles of Forensic Investigation, Financial and Economic Crimes.
And Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo said government is resolved to fight corruption.
Mr. Lusambo said Government will not allow some civil servants to continue stealing public funds.
The minister said this in a speech read for him by Ndola District Commissioner George Chisulo, who was accompanied by Mayor Amon Chisenga during the book launch.
