Domestically-Developed Radars Unveiled by Iran
In another move to further enhance its air defense capability, the Iranian military announced that it has developed its own state-of-the-art radar system. The report was aired by IRINN TV (Iran).
Two new radar systems, developed domestically in a joint venture with Iran’s Defense Ministry and private tech firms, will soon be integrated into Iran’s defense capabilities.
The first system, the Khalij-e Fars radar system, reportedly has a range of 800 kilometers, uses HF frequencies, has “three-dimensional capabilities,” according to memri.org. It can detect all conventional and radar-evading targets as well as ballistic missiles.
The second system is known as the Moragheb radar reportedly uses phased array technology with an operational range of some 400 kilometers. according to the Iranian Fars News Agency. Reportedly, Both radar systems have the capacity to detect airborne targets with high accuracy at low and medium altitudes as well as radar-evading and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
Iran has also unveiled a missile defense system designed and manufactured by experts at home. The surface-to-air missile system, dubbed Bavar-373, is a mobile missile defense system designed to intercept and destroy incoming hostile targets. The system employs missiles that have a maximum range of 300 kilometers, according to presstv.com.
