Criminal investigation

British Army spy codenamed Stakeknife who passed on information on the IRA is set to be investigated over 24 murders carried out by Provos' infamous 'nutting squad'

Freddie Scappaticci always denied being StakeknifeA senior IRA double agent who shared information with the British Army is set to be investigated for his involvement in at least 24 murders.
The army double agent was known as Stakeknife, a shadowy figure himself responsible for finding and killing those it believed passed information to the British security services during the Troubles.
Some believe that the agent was Freddie Scappaticci, a feared member of the infamous 'nutting squad', known for its brutal treatment of turncoats - but he denies being the informant.
