China's first homegrown aircraft carrier to be superior than Liaoning, military experts say

China's first homegrown aircraft carrier will have larger tonnage and carry more carrier-based aircraft, according to military experts.
The second carrier, fully based on China's own design, will have a displacement of 50,000 tons, defense ministry spokesman Yang Yujun told a news conference in Beijing on Dec. 31, 2015.
The design of China's first domestically developed aircraft carrier is similar to the commissioned one Liaoning but its tonnage is larger than Liaoning, said Yin Zhuo,director of the Expert Consultation Committee of the People's Liberation Army Navy and also a member of CPPCC National Committee, during the 2016 Two Sessions on March 6.
