Pacete: China: Friend or foe?

CHINA is a friend as manifested by our diplomatic tie. We use China wares…tooth pick, ballpen, rubber shoes, information gadgets, etc. China is an enemy because the Chinese constructed buildings and alleged military facilities in the island that we claim as part of our territory.

Is it? It is not funny!

Let us have a look at China’s global clout and security posture. (I wish that our next president will understand this better). We have to know that China figures prominently in U.S. and Russian conceptions by security. The acclivity of China, as we perceive, may be the important event to watch in the world for the 21st century.

Our historians watching the world have always considered the emergence of a vigorous market economy and the army. It cannot be denied that China is the fastest growing economy in the world with fastest growing military budget. It has nuclear weapons and seems to like having border disputes with its neighbors (Philippines included). The Chinese believe to resolve these quarrels in its own favor.
