Berlin Truck Attack Suspect Killed in Shootout in Milan
The Tunisian man suspected of carrying out the truck attack on a Christmas market in Berlin has been killed in a shootout in Milan, a top Italian official said Friday.
Interior Minister Marco Minniti said that Anis Amri was stopped on foot by police patrols at around 3 a.m. during a routine check in the Sesto San Giovanni neighborhood. When the officers asked Mr. Amri for identification, he became agitated, pulled out a gun and began to shoot. The police returned fire, killing him.
The man who was killed was “without doubt” Mr. Amri, Mr. Minniti said at a press conference.
