Islamic State group changing strategy, French defence minister tells FRANCE 24
In an interview with FRANCE 24, French Defence Minister Florence Parly discussed the fight against terrorism, in Syria and Iraq as well as in Africa, warning that the Islamic State (IS) group is morphing into "an underground terrorist organisation" even as it is chased out of its bastions.
Speaking on the sidelines of the International Forum on Peace and Security, in the Senegalese capital of Dakar, Parly hailed the recent capture of the Islamic State (IS) group's strongholds of Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria.
"ISIS is going from defeat to defeat, 90% of the territories it occupied have been liberated", she said, using an acronym to refer to the IS group.
However, Parly warned that the terrorist group is changing strategy: "The fight against ISIS is not over because ISIS is already beginning to redeploy its activities and to change into an underground terrorist organisation".
