Pentagon Wants Missile Defense Upgrades, Not East Coast Site
Lawmakers are pressing the Defense Department to move forward with plans to build a missile defense site in the continental U.S.The Pentagon would rather invest in upgrading its network of sensors and family of kill vehicles – the top part of the interceptor – to better spot and destroy intercontinental ballistic missiles launched from North Korea or Iran, according to the military’s second highest-ranking officer.
