Nestle terminate sponsorship programme with IAAF over doping and corruption scandals

The crisis engulfing athletics’ governing body worsened on Wednesday when Nestle attempted to cut its ties with the sport because of “negative public perception” brought about by doping and corruption scandals.
Nestle signed a five-year deal in 2012 to sponsor the International Association of Athletics Federations’ Kids Athletics programme, which has seen them provide financial support for 15 million children to get involved with the sport.
However, following a disastrous year that has seen senior IAAF officials accused of bribery and Russia banned from international competition for state-sponsored doping, Nestle have now announced that they cannot cope with the bad publicity that comes with being associated with athletics and pulled out of their contract a year early.
