BAE has been awarded a $22.1 million contract for unmanned naval mine clearing vehicles.

BAE will provide Archerfish unmanned underwater vehicles as well as fiber-optic spools.

"The fiber-optic spools provide a communications link between the Archerfish mine neutralizer and the launch platform, an MH-60S helicopter deployed from the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ships," said a BAE news release.

"Developed by BAE Systems, Archerfish draws on the company’s expertise and extensive technology in torpedoes, naval mines and mine hunting," the company release said. "The Archerfish neutralizer provides significant time and logistical advantages over current Remotely Operated Vehicle mine disposal systems."
