Yellowstone volcano eruption DEATH ZONE: Millions stranded as volcano wipes out US
Devastating Yellowstone volcano eruption simulations predict no one in the US would be safe from feeling the effects of the cataclysm.
The biggest cause for concern, outside of Yellowstone’s immediate vicinity, is the hazardous downfall of volcanic ash.
Clues hidden in past Yellowstone eruptions from hundreds of thousands of years ago paint an incredibly hopeless future.
Geological evidence found buried in the ground suggest the extent of Yellowstone’s ash emission would spread from coast to coast.
Experts at the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) warned in 2015 the resulting damage would amount to staggering sums of money lost.
Doug Bausch, a senior scientist at FEMA, said: "In terms of direct economic damages, a three trillion dollar number is reasonable for this event.
“It's about 20 percent of our US Gross Domestic Product."
The FEMA experts drafted six plausible ash fallout zones across the US to map out the far reaching effects of Yellowstone’s spewing ash.
