Counter spy
The president of the European Commission has demanded his own secret
service to counter spies from the bloc’s national governments after it emerged
that German secret agents helped America to spy on Brussels.
Jean-Claude Juncker’s comments followed claims that Germany’s foreign
intelligence service, the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), spied on EU officials,
the French foreign ministry and the Élysée Palace.
