Egypt Sentences Ex-President to Death
Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood-aligned deposed president, was sentenced to death Saturday for his role in a jail break during the country’s 2011 popular revolt. Democratically elected Morsi came to power after the uprising that finally ended thirty years of Hosni Mubarak’s autocratic rule, but was deposed by the military in 2013 after just one year in office.
