Netanyahu’s new government will be one of Israel’s most hawkish
As he prepares to present his new government to the Israeli parliament, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is poised to lead a narrow and unstable rightist coalition that he would prefer to expand. With the slimmest possible majority of 61 seats in the 120-member Knesset, Netanyahu will preside over one of the most hawkish governments in Israel’s history, composed of the prime minister’s rightist Likud party, the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home faction, a center-right party, Kulanu, and two ultra-Orthodox parties, Shas and United Torah Judaism.
