An attempted home invasion on Christmas Eve in
southwest Houston ended with a suspected attacker shot to death and another
person wounded, police said.
Family members were gathered in the garage
of a home in the 4100 block of Woodwind Lane with the door partially opened,
when a man allegedly tried to enter at about 11 p.m. Wednesday
"The suspect had a gun. The homeowner had a gun - and won,"
Sgt. Paul
Motard, of the homicide
division, said of an exchange of gunfire.
"There was some family in the garage
sitting around visiting," Motard said. "The door was party up and he
rolled up under the door."
Motard said the attacker fired at least
one shot.
He declined to name the dead man, pending
the notification of his family. Motard did not immediately have any details on
the condition of the person who was wounded.
