War on terror

Devin Nunes: U.S. should do more to fight ISIL

FILE - In this May 17, 2013 file photo, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif. is seen on Capitol Hill in Washington. Republicans retained control of the House in this week’s election, but because of retirements and party-imposed term limits on committee chairmen, more than half a dozen committees will be getting new chairmen. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak, File)The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said on Sunday the United States should do more to address the spread of the Islamic State outside Iraq and Syria.
Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said expanding military operations to wherever fighters are being trained and taking new prisoners to the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, could help the U.S. gain a better understanding of how the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant operates and, ultimately, defeat it.
