Seventeen people taken to hospital after gas leak

Seventeen people were taken to hospital after what is understood to have been a gas leak at a business in Meyerton south of Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon.

ER24 emergency medical service said paramedics and Fire and Rescue were on scene.

People were evacuated from the building, some of them complaining of various symptoms such as headaches‚ shortness of breath‚ nausea‚ vomiting and dizziness.

“A triage area was set up and patients were assessed and treated. They were found to be in minor to moderate conditions. They were transported to various hospitals for further medical care‚” ER24 said.
