China completes draft guidance on risk assessing existing substances
China's MEP's Solid Waste and Chemical Management Center (MEP-SCC) has completed a draft version of technical guidance for the health and environmental risk assessment of existing chemical substances.
Work has also started on a draft list of priority existing chemicals (Pecs). Neither the guidelines, nor the list, have yet been made publicly available.
At a workshop earlier this month, government officials discussed the guidelines and prepared a plan to coordinate the work. Attendees at the meeting included representatives from the:
- MEP-SCC;
- State Administration of Work Safety;
- Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; and
- Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
