FBI Alerted Canadian Police to Terror Threat Posed by Man Flagged as Security Risk

Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Thursday investigated the Strathroy, Ontario, residence of Aaron Driver, who was killed after detonating an explosive device while getting into a taxi, police said.
A police operation that left a 24-year-old man dead was prompted by an alert from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation saying the man posed an immediate terror threat, Canadian police said Thursday.
Aaron Driver, who the police had previously flagged as a security risk, detonated an explosive device Wednesday when police confronted him after he entered a taxi outside his sister’s home in Strathroy, Ontario, said Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Jennifer Strachan.
The cabdriver was injured and Mr. Driver was killed. The police said it wasn’t immediately clear whether Mr. Driver died as a result of the explosion or being shot by police.
