Suspect anthrax sent to 51 labs, 17 states; number likely to rise

Photo - So far, four of the anthrax batches of the 400 have come back positive for live spores, and the Pentagon will not know until the full 10-day testing timeframe completes how many other live batches there are. (AP Photo) At least 51 labs in 17 states may have received potentially live spores of anthrax, the Pentagon announced Wednesday, adding that the Defense Department has now identified four main batches of live anthrax that should have been inert and were used to create samples for research. In addition to the states, the suspect samples have also been sent to South Korea, Australia and Canada.
