Foreing trade security
The federal government regulates the export of items with potential military uses to assure they are not shipped to hostile countries, terrorists, or human-rights abusers. The most sensitive items, such as tactical aircraft and missiles, are enumerated on the U.S. Munitions List, which is administered by the Department of State; companies seeking to export them must apply for licenses and submit to rigorous federal regulation.
