What to do if you are stopped by the police
There are some things you should and should not do if stopped by US police. You could still wind up dead or in prison, but, like with safety belts, they increase your odds considerably:
The Seven Commandments:
- Thou shalt remain calm.
- Thou shalt keep thy hands in plain view at all times. This is what got Oscar Grant killed. Even though they had searched him, they still thought he had a gun because they could not see his hands. This means you do not reach for anything, like ID or registration, till you are asked for it....
